SPOTLIGHT: Ignite Physical Performance

The Ignite Physical Performance team are responsible for the provision of the High Performance program to the Mt Gravatt Vultures AFC. This program is brought to you by Cody Fullarton, Zach Allen and head sports trainer Nic Elsey. This program traditionally starts in November when the players launch into an intensive pre-season training block, aimed at not only improving their running capacity and mental toughness but also building strong, resilient bodies and minds.

The Ignite team pride themselves on the implementation of injury prevention strategies based on the latest research in their endeavour to provide the coaching staff with the maximum number of players on the training track each week. When done in the right environment, these tough weeks build a strong bond within the group which was evidenced at the end of the pre-season camp at Stradbroke Island. When players are injured they are put through the best management plans for return to play that involves a holistic approach of injury rehabilitation, general strength and the players favourite -- off legs conditioning. Ignite have a great working relationship with the team at Restore Function Physiotherapy, who provide excellent physiotherapy coverage for the club. They are in regular communication with the staff on treatment plans and return to play guidelines which the Ignite team then implement at training, and through provision of rehab programs to be done away from the club. More recently, Ignite have started working with some of the injured juniors on rehab and general strength programs to do while they are missing football. They find doing this is very enjoyable and rewarding and continue to build this connection.

Ignite's junior programs engage the fundamentals of Athletic Development amongst young athletes from various sports. These include education and implementation of appropriate protocols for warm-up, injury prevention, improvements in strength, power, speed and aerobic capacity. They have both boys and girls programs and most importantly they are all conducted in a safe, encouraging and fun environment. Outside of their involvement with the Mt Gravatt Vultures, they also run an Exercise Physiology business for private clients. Training options include Semi-private Group sessions, Junior Athletic Development programs and 1-on-1 consultations with Accredited Exercise Physiologists. As such private health rebates are able to be claimed onsite with the ability for Ignite to service Medicare (EPC), DVA and NDIS clientele.
