New QAFL coach Adam Boon announced for 2019
January 27, 2018
The Mt Gravatt AFC Board is very pleased to announce that Adam Boon has been appointed as head coach for the 2019 season. We are also very happy to advise that Mitch Ferguson will remain with the club as a senior coach and will administer game days from the coach’s box. We believe this is an exciting combination for the club.

Adam, or Boonie as many affectionately know him, has chosen to come to Mt Gravatt following a distinguished playing career in the NEAFL at Redlands for the opportunity to transition into the senior coaching fraternity. Qualified for many years with a Level 2 coaching accreditation, Adam has a long history of coaching through the talent pathways with his full time employment of several years at Park Ridge High AFL School of excellence program. He also has many years of coaching in the state school boys championships as well as presently within the Brisbane Lions Academy program.
Adam impressed through the application stages with his enthusiasm, contemporary AFL knowledge and no nonsense approach to the game. Coupled with the reliability, experience and guile of Mitch Ferguson, who was senior coach for many years at Mayne and last year as assistant to Dan Webster here at Mt Gravatt, we are very excited about what lays ahead for 2019. We would like to acknowledge the cooperation and interaction of Mitch and the senior playing group during this process.

Strategic Planning News
September 24, 2018
Working parties for critical areas of our strategic review needed.

(1) Revenue Taskforce. The club urgently needs to generate a further $30,000-$50,000 in revenue as a minimum to reach the full potential on and off the field. Support in areas such as membership, sponsorship and merchandising is urgently needed for the senior club. The benefits will also flow to the junior club as the sponsorship and membership revenue has links to both clubs.

(2) Communications. People with a passion for social media, newsletters and other communication medium are most welcome to input into the club.

(3) Vulture Army support. Both the junior and senior clubs are looking for co-ordinators of game day and other support.

(4) Facilities development management. The club is looking to develop support in areas of trades, project management and other skills to support the on-going development of the ground and precinct. The group will have input into development plans unfolding over the coming years.

All support is both necessary and greatly appreciated to make the Vultures as strong as all of us would like to see.

Major Funding Announcement
May 24, 2018
The Mt Gravatt AFC Board would like to thank the wonderful support of Corrine McMillan - State MP for Mansfield - and the Qld State Government who today announced, at a media event on our home ground, a $250,000 grant for female participation.
This, coupled with a successful stage 1 grant process from Brisbane City Council and the generous support of AFL Qld, will allow a major redevelopment of the change rooms at the club, including female friendly toilet and shower facilities, a new building for gym and storage, a canteen, meeting room and expended dressing room facilities.
This is wonderful news for the Mt Gravatt senior and junior clubs and our 400 players in 2019.
Our sincere thanks to Seniors' Vice President Rod Nuttall who has worked tirelessly through all aspects of the process and to Kate Guy who oversees female football in both clubs. What a great day for the Mt Gravatt AFL clubs.
Go the Vultures!😀

Blue & White Cocktail Event

Welcome to the new Vultures Board
On the 25th of March our AGM took place to elect a new Board following our long serving president Daron Jackson, treasurer Mike Murphy, vice president Derek Telford and Daryl Estall all stepping down. The Board has also farewelled Roy Spotswood and Joe Carbone in the last twelve months and we’d like to take the time to sincerely thank all of the above mentioned for their service and commitment to Mt Gravatt AFC. They will continue to be familiar faces about the club and we hope you’ll join us in thanking them personally as you see them.
The external climate of football is shifting quickly and to better face the challenges ahead, the Board has restructured to align to portfolios with clear accountabilities. In the spirt of transparency, our immediate agenda is to:
-
Significantly improve our financial position by improving revenue forecasts. This includes taking advantage of the new sponsorship prospectus associated with our fencing as well as sale of supporter plaques;
-
Assertively pursue strategic alliances with all stakeholders including all levels of government and AFL Qld;
-
Review with playing group the nature of our event calendar;
-
Pursue ground improvements to gym, lights, coaching boxes, dressing sheds, playing surface etc;
-
Improve game day experience;
-
Finalise strategic plans.
-
Obtain joint agreement with junior club about many spheres of operations to work more closely together; and
-
Finalise lease on the oval transition from Southside.
Whilst the most of our positions on the Board are now filled, we do have three vacancies to support our revenue, football operations and event/membership portfolio. It’s a great opportunity for people with a passion for the club to join us in setting the agenda for the future and whilst we’re open minded about where applications could come from, we’d love to hear from recently retired or current players and coaches. You can find our new 2018 Board structure attached which includes a view on accountabilities.
